RUSSIA: THE GOLDEN
RING

From
Moscow to St. Petersburg
Sergei
Posad, Kostroma, Suzdal
& Vladimir
The Golden Ring is a group of medieval towns and
cities that form a ring to the northeast of Moscow. The towns are full of ancient Russian
architecture from the Middle Ages including walled fortresses,
monasteries, cathedrals and churches. They are surrounded by forests and
fields, rivers and lakes, quite a contrast to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
We
shall have the opportunity to visit Russian potters, icon painters and
other artists.
